The Marangu Route is the oldest and quickest route on Kilimanjaro.
It is also known as the “Coca-Cola Route” and is the only route offering hut accommodation.
The route ascends through rainforest and moorland before crossing the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo to reach the summit via Gilman’s Point and Uhuru Peak. Descent follows the same trail back to Marangu Gate.
This route can be done in 5 days, but 6 days is recommended for better acclimatization.
The Marangu Route is considered less scenic and has lower summit success rates compared to other routes.
